Oh, Phising Hell

Bad news on the blogging front. Tried to sign into blogspot at work this morning and got a message saying that the page had been blocked because "“The Websense category "Phishing and Other Frauds" is filtered.“

Our IT Security Manager (good guy, I've nothing against him) tells me that the aim of this is to protect staff from 'phishing fraud' whereby they have received a mail masquerading as their bank etc. asking them to provide account details etc. and is in fact a site run by cybercriminals.

I wouldn't want anyone to spend hours a day blogging when I should be working, I don't. But after a tedious journey in getting increasingly wound up by all the stories of rampant socialism I hear on the Today Programme, it's quite therapeutic to be able to sound off by publishing a quick post or two. Saving it into a Word document which I then mail home doesn't quite have the same effect...

Poor WOT. Luckily "huge multi-national company" doesn't consider Blogger to be evil yet. This is a good thing. Although of course, it does mean that there is temptation to have a rant when at work. And then go and check out other people's blogs. And then comment. And then go and check whether my comment has been commented on. *sigh*
