A story from earlier in the week; three men were convicted the gang-rape of a mentally disabled 16-year-old girl. Not only did they rape her, they doused her in caustic soda in the hope of destroying the forensic evidence and they filmed her writhing in agony on the floor.
They were sentenced to 21 years BETWEEN THEM – one got nine years and the other two got six. The word “insulting” is nothing like strong enough to describe the judge’s sentencing decision in this case.
I know there’s a lot going on at the moment, but it says a great deal about Britain today, and about our Criminal Justice System, that this story got relatively little coverage. Rape, and the Judiciary’s inability to deal with it properly are so commonplace as to make it hardly worth a mention. I read today that the Attorney General is to review the sentences. Thank God for that.
Generally speaking I’m opposed to the State having the right to impose its might on individuals, and we should be protected from the its potentially massive power over us. But individuals who behave as these three have done sacrifice much of that protection in my view, because it is the responsibility of the State to shield the rest of us from people like this.
These three should never be let out of prison. Through committing such an appallingly cruel and heinous crime they should be denied liberty until the day they die.

Half the trouble is, our prisons are like holiday camps with Playstations and free education and the taxpayer funds it all.
Not to mention the new taxfunded "Radio Prison" project.
Prison should be hard labour, no human rights, tough nasty places.
Well said Womble. The sentences were read out on the news last night and thought I had mis-heard.
Once again, the victim lives a life sentence, whilst the agressors are back to normal in just a few years.
give these boys a fair trial - and then hang 'em
